This week we learned about computer-aid.
this lecture's keypoint is every digital media technology has an architecture that can be used to transform work, play and governance.Every digital media technology has an architecture that can be used to transform work, play and governance.
What is CSCW?
computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) is a field of research and design. (ex: CAD/CAM, ABB Powerwall, Drug Design)
researchers in this field investigate how people work together in groups, and design computer-systems and networks to enable or facilitate group work.
CSCW is considered to a part of a larger field known as CHI or HCI: human-computer interaction (HCI) design, evaluation, implementation, and study of interactive computing systems for human use.
Practitioners include Lucy Suchman, Terry Winograd and Fernando Flores (as well as several hundred others in university and corporate research laboratories).
surveillance?
close watch kept over someone or something. (ex. CCTV)

5th Summary
we learned HCI (human-computer interaction) last time. that time we watched many movies. of these move, The Bourne Identity's identification systems is very interesting. and project using Webcam is good. i'm surprised that projector have not only showing image but also response to laser. HCI is interactive method between human and computer and it is expecting that how system will be created

3rd Summary
First, keypoints until now
1. When technologies connect or separate people, they become media.
2. Technologies embody social, political, cultural, economic and philosophical ideas and relationships.
3. When a medium is new, it is often used to simulate old media.
4. New media do not replace old media, they displace them.
and today's keypoints 'People make media and then media make people.'
Tim berners-lee?
tim berners-lee is father of the internet and then he has many employment. senior research scientist, laboratory for computer science (lcs), mit; and etc...
What is www?
1. A collaboratively authored hypertext.
2. It is a standard.
3. The www is a vast, heterogeneous network of people and machines.
www is World Wide Web. it looks like spider-web and connect another section.
I learned ISO, IETF, RFC, ETC...
ISO is International Organization for Standardization. and then a network of national standards institutes from 145 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives. It acts as a bridge between public and private sector. It has created over 12,000 standards.
ietf is internet engineering task force. IETF is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. It is open to any interested individual.
rfc is request for comments. each distinct version of an Internet standards-related specification is published as part of the "Request for Comments" (RFC) document series. This archival series is the official publication channel for Internet standards documents and Internet community.
What is URI?
URI is Universal Resource Identifier. URI is include URL that we common know.
for example>>
http://www.naver.com/
mailto:mjm8903@nate.com
etc...
What is HTML?
HTML is hypertext markup language. HTML is derived from sgml and try [view] --> [source] in your web browser. but, at present, many site protect there's source.

2nd Summary
First of all, the key of digital media is "When a medium is new, it is often used to simulate old media." and "new media do not replace old media, they displace them.". (I Think...) for instance, you make ads, you many think about it. maybe this think include old media idea. you use old media idea. you comlete that make movie, this movie include old media idea too. so i think old media motivate new media. but new media do not replace old media!and then, engelbart's article. he have many achievements. above all, he organize team(augmentation research center). this team invent the mouse, 2d display editing, hypermedia & hypermedia email, outline processing, multiple window displays, etc. this technology is very useful by this time. and then, hyperlink is very efficient. hyperlink is a link to another page(?). for example, when your name click in internet, go to your information page. but, this link style is diffrent each site.anyway, i thanks for engelbart.

Anyway, this week I learned 2 opinions. this opinions very interesting. in first opinion "WELCOME TO THE PRESENT" by Stone, I remember George Lucas's story. he made movie "Jurassic Park". but it is not simple. it has problem. problem is real between virtual a point of difference. however George Lucas is not give up, continue many think. finally, he complete make a movie. I respect he.
And second opinion "AS WE MAY THINK" is fun and surprise. In "AS WE MAY THINK" is written by Vannearver Bush, I was surprised by his thinking. I think The Memex is very advance machinery gear. because it include many technology. it is 1940s think, Unbelivable!! I think vannearver Bush is like a prophet.
but, The memex was not made. I was disappointed.
Anyhow, I learned 'The Memex', 'microfilm selector', etc. it is difficult. I don't express my opinion in english. I'm not really good at english now, I will do my best.
